HAPPY EARTH DAY!

If you are like me, you might be like “I DON’T CARE ITS EARTH DAY BECAUSE IT WAS JUST A WEEK OF BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND IT WAS EASTER WEEKEND AND WE ARE GOING OUT OF TOWN AND I CANT WORRY ABOUT ONE MORE THING!!”

When I was a kid, I loved Earth Day. It was usually accompanied by a trip to the park, planting a tree with school or something similar. In adulthood I really didn’t pay much attention to be honest. But now in parenthood, I am hoping to make it a day that my kids look forward to.

Our family tries to take steps towards living sustainably each day but some days its easier to pay attention to than others. Like anything, the more you integrate eco friendly products and habits, the easier it is to keep it going. Currently, we focus on limiting our water and power usage, recycling, and using products from Norwex that decreases our chemical and paper towel usage. Matt takes the bus to work.

But, we have a LONG way to go to get to a point of reducing our footprint in any significant ways. We have goals like making our closets more sustainable by purchasing ethical clothes, consistently using our water bottles and utensils when we are out and about, reducing our waste, growing our own food and composting.

So, for this Earth Day, we are going to take steps at attacking these goals! Here is what we are up to:

  • Carry our reusable water bottles from Kleen Kanteen (not an affiliate, just a fan- did you know they are a B Corp??)

  • Put our reusable utensils and straws in the diaper bag

  • Set up and set out our hummingbird feeders

  • Set up our new aquaponics fish tank/organic food tank that Teddy got for his birthday

What are y’all doing to celebrate Mother Earth today?
